A Busy Week at the Farm

This past week was one of those weeks that perfectly captures life on the farm — full, fast-moving, and deeply meaningful. The days blurred together with chores, preparations, and family moments, all woven together during one of the most special times of the year.

A Christmas Celebration in Song

One of the highlights of our week was Sherry’s Christmas choir performance at First Baptist Church in Henderson. In the middle of all the farm work and seasonal busyness, it was a beautiful reminder of why this season matters.

Hearing Christmas music sung in worship has a way of slowing everything down, even if just for a moment. It centers the heart, lifts the spirit, and reminds us that Christmas is about far more than schedules and to-do lists. We are incredibly proud of Sherry and grateful for the opportunity to pause and celebrate the season through music and faith.

Getting Ready for New Life on the Farm

Back at the farm, excitement is building as we prepare for a new batch of piglets to arrive. Preparing for new life is equal parts joy and responsibility. Pens are checked and re-checked, bedding is refreshed, feed supplies are stocked, and everything is made ready to welcome healthy piglets.

This kind of preparation takes time and attention, but it’s one of the most rewarding parts of farm life. Each new arrival represents growth, stewardship, and the continuation of the work we’re called to do here.

Farm Life Doesn’t Slow Down

Even with special events and big preparations underway, daily chores never stop. Animals still need care, water still needs checking, and winter conditions keep us on our toes. Shorter days mean working smarter and making every daylight hour count.

The rhythm can be tiring, but it’s a rhythm we’re thankful for.

Wrapping Gifts Between Chores

Somewhere between feeding animals and finishing preparations, we also found time to wrap our own family’s Christmas gifts. It may not have happened all at once, and it definitely didn’t happen in a perfectly quiet living room, but it happened — and that’s part of the beauty of it.

Those small moments of normal family life, tucked into busy days, are often the ones we treasure the most.

Thankful for a Full Life

Weeks like this remind us how full life at the farm truly is — full of work, faith, family, and anticipation. It’s busy, yes, but it’s also rich with purpose.

As we move closer to Christmas, we’re grateful for every song sung, every pen prepared, every gift wrapped, and every moment spent together. This season may be busy, but it’s one we wouldn’t trade for anything.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
